Going bananas....

*****

When people mentioned that i'm gonna learn and experience a lot of stuff in university,
i sort of expected it to be academic stuff or of the same sort like that.

I'm learning something that still requires a lot of mental power now, but it certainly do not have anything to do with getting a good grades though.

It's adjusting my body to the university's time zone.

You see, when you enter a university, its something akin to crossing the Meridian Greenwich where the time is shifted by 12 hours or roughly about that.
So 3 am in the morning isn't 3 am in the morning anymore.

Translated into university hours, it might as well be equivalent to 4 pm or somewhere in the morning.
And 6pm or morning in the real world means that there will be many people awake, and when there's many people awake, there's bound to be noise.

In my case, it seems they have let loose some chimpanzees around the quarters of my hall.

They might look human on the outside, but actually they are no much different on the inside.

I'm saying so because normal humans, though they may be at different time zones, knows when to keep their stupid mouth shut when they know there are other people sleeping but chimpanzees however, do not know this.

We can't really blame them though.
We can't expect chimpanzees mother or father to go around telling their children to keep quiet.
They're really busy searching for bananas, you know.

So right now, i have a bunch of chimpanzees shouting on top of their lungs somewhere near my hall for reasons i do not know.
I'm guessing its mating season, and by shouting like the worlds gonna end, they think they might impress their female mates.

Sigh, guess i'll be kept awake by their battle cries til God knows what time and a piece of advice to incoming university students, bring ear plugs when you're going to uni.

Or a few bananas in case chimpanzees decide to visit your halls of residence.

I HAVE FINALLY BOUGHT A STUPID LAPTOP~!!!!!!

Okay, sorry for the extreme show of emotion but i really can't control myself.
Depriving a teenager of internet service for more than a week will have unforeseen results of his/her state of being.

Bought a HP ProBook 4310 for Sing 1870+ Dollars.
It looks something like this:

Still figuring to use the stupid Vista now, will provide more updates later as my Hall of Residence (Eusoff ~!!!!) will be having a bbq as our orientation's finale.

See you soon!

1st Post From Singapore

Question: What is the most important object that you must bring when you go to uni?
Answer: A freaking laptop !!!!!

Okay, maybe that is not the most important thing but because of the idea that i could get a really good laptop in Singapore without considering the fact that the exchange rate is ridiculously high as my dad does not own 10 multinational companies, i have been without a laptop for almost 1 week now and thus being unable to update this blog.

Luckily Singapore can be considered as a developed country and thank God because i finally found a computer i can use at the hostel lounge where i live.

*****

So, i'm pretty fine here right now.

Class has not started yet so basically you can say i'm pretty enjoying life right now as the way they do orientation in Singapore could scared the wits out of a typically conservative Malaysian.
I know that because i have my wits out now.

Wished i could upload some pictures but that will have to wait until i really get a laptop in Singapore which i do not know when.

Any kind hearted people is willing sponsor me 1?

*****

Oh besides that, i'm also quite into listening Chinese songs now.
Especially those break-up kinda song.

Us Chinese really have the talents of writing break-up songs.
Maybe is because Chinese have the highest break up rates in the world?

Well, one of the song is called
"Wo Ai De Ren" or the loose translation would be the person i love.

A pretty suitable song for most of us i guess.

Lyrics of this song with translation:

我知道故事不會太曲折
wo zhi dao gu shi bu hui tai qu zhe
I know this story is pretty straightforward

我總會遇見一個什麼人
wo zong hui yu jian yi ge shen me ren
I will find someone

陪我過沒有了她的人生
pei wo guo mei you le ta de ren sheng
To accompany me along the life without her

成家立業之類的等等
cheng jia li ye zhi lei de deng deng
Settle down, good career and everything

她做了她覺得對的選擇
ta zuo le ta jue de dui de xuan ze
Since she's made the choice she thinks is right

我只好祝福她真的對了
wo zhi hao zhu fu ta zhen de dui le
I can only give her my blessings

愛不到我最想要愛的人
ai bu dao wo zui xiang yao ai de ren
I can't love the person that I really want to

誰還能要我怎樣呢
shui hai neng yao wo zhen me ne
What else can I do?

我愛的人 不是我的愛人
wo ai de ren / bu shi wo de ai ren
The person I love is not my lover

她心裡每一寸 都屬於另一個人
ta xin li mei yi cun / dou shu yu ling yi ge ren
Every inch in her heart has been taken by the other person

她真幸福 幸福得真殘忍
ta zhen xin fu / xin fu de zhen can ren
She's really happy and this happiness is cruel

讓我又愛又恨 她的愛怎麼那麼深
rang wo you ai you hen / ta de ai zen me na me shen
Makes me love and hate how can her love be that deep

我的愛人 她已有了愛人
wo de ai ren / ta yi you le ai ren
The person I love has a lover

從他們的眼神 說明了我不可能
cong ta men de yan shen / shuo ming le wo bu ke neng
The look in their eyes tells it all, it's impossible for me

每當聽見 她或他說(我們)
mei dang ting jian / ta huo ta shuo (wo men)
Everytime I hear them use 'we'

就像聽見愛情 永恆的嘲笑聲
jiu xiang ting jian ai qing / yong heng de chao xiao sheng
It's just like love, laughing at me, eternally

So i'm off...

There is now officially 2 more hours left before i take my step upon the bus that will bring me to my "next stage in life", which lies in NUS, Singapore.

I've seen many friends leaving for the same purpose as me, which is to tertiary education, but the feeling of seeing them off is so different from being the person that is going off myself.

I have a whole bunch of feelings mixed together, sadness, excitement, happiness, the homesick feeling that you get before even going abroad and the feeling that you are going to miss everything in your hometown.

I will sure miss Ipoh certainly, for the relaxing pace of life here and definitely the white coffee and the pretty girls that you can only find in Ipoh.

And mentioning about girls, i just received a bombshell from Jia Yee that she has already a boyfriend just recently.
That was actually quite surprising to me i must say, because i was expecting myself to start another relationship first, but who am i to voice out now? LOL

As for myself, i am making a vow to TRY (note the TRY) to remain single for at least four years in Singapore because i just know that a relationship is not good in a university where China-men can study for 10 straight hours without sleep, food and girls.
But who knows?
Most of my friends are already making bets on how fast i will break the vow, with the fastest time being 2 weeks and the longest period being 1 semester.
Come on, am i that desperate?
(Thanks for the resounding YES by some of you)

*****

So before ending my last blog post in Malaysia for now, i would like to voice out my gratefulness to a few friends that have always stood by me during all the ups and downs just to affirm you guys. (And yeah, i have the feeling that this post sounds more like a speech made when someone have contracted a terminal disease)

  • Yee Kheng, for your car, your phone and all your belanja-s which i know i may never repay you unless i become rich and most importantly the support you gave me. You are a person that will never say NO to a friend and that is what makes you special. You are truly the best buddy anyone could ever find and i hope we can always remain best buddies no matter what ocean that separates us.
  • Jimmy & David, for being my 2 idiotic buddies in church for more than 10 years now. I know we might not share all the same personalities but this is what that bond us together. Though our paths may diverge for now, but i know we will meet again someday doing other idiotic stuff like we always used to.
  • My school friends whom i still keep in touch with (eg: Kam Wah, Xin Yi, Tammy, Hari and etc... too many names to mention LOL), for still making the effort to keep in touch be it through MSN, Facebook, this blog and some regular outings. I hope the saying once a friend, always a friend applies to us.
  • And of course, LAST BUT NOT LEAST, friends who do not make it into the 3 category which is not very much in the first place, for all the support, advice and prayers that you gave me. Same saying, once a friend, always a friend!

Well, guess that is all for my farewell speech for now, do wait for my welcoming speech when i reach NUS in Singapore. *Winks*

Study Trip To UTAR!

*****

What do you get when you cross extreme boredom, 1 H'ng Yee Kheng, 1 Phang Cher Hong, 1 Kong Xin Yi and a Myvi that have unlimited petrol (That is because Yee Kheng said that the petrol could be claimed from his company) ?

A vacation to the University Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kampar!
Besides, what better way to understand about life in university, to visit all your secondary friends and to feel grateful that Ipoh is not that boring when compared to Kampar than to visit there straight?

So, these are among the sights i managed to capture in Kampar for you all to see, if you're wondering how life in UTAR is like.

Our host for the day, Mr Tan Ginn Yi (Or Jeannie)

Our host's house, 3 floors with 20+ over people in it

A view of Mr Jeannie's room

3 People are supposed to sleep here with the end result of Yee Kheng hugging me during his sleep

Guess what we found at the pavement opposite Ginn Yi's house? University students.. LOL

Night Life in Kampar!

Dinner at some random restaurant

Round 2: Celebrating the Terrorist's birthday at some random cafe

Xin Yi: "I wish i could get my hands on that latest bomb..."

Can you make out the word "Terrorist" on the cake?

Yee Kheng was the first one to go down that night

View of the lake that i cannot seem to remember its name just beside UTAR

And bicycles seem to be the most popular mode of transportation among students there

Car, eh no, bicycle park in UTAR

Yee Kheng and Xin Yi chilling by the lake. Notice that there's another bicycle again?

Following Jia Yee to collect laundry. The have doby service! How nice...

Xin Yi: Hey, what is this?
Yee Kheng: Dunno oh, i heard that this machine produces coffee by magic!

"GRAND" Kampar Hotel, the only hotel in Kampar. That's why it is grand

You can find a lot of these RO Water machine around the students residential area

*****

There a lot more sights can i cannot manage to put in picture but of course, those are the sights that you need to see for yourself.

My conclusion of university life?

Lets say i prefer much more of my secondary life in St Michael.

SICK

I learned a new word today: SEXTING.
No, don't go looking for that word's meaning in Oxford, it will take some time before SEXTING make it to any dictionary and based on the word SEX in SEXTING, maybe even dictionary do not want that word in them.

SEXTING it seems, is like the latest hobby among our friends who are living in more "open" countries like US and luckily, it has yet to gain ground in my country, Malaysia, at least for now.

According to a recent survey done in US by some committee to prevent early pregnancy, they found out that 1 in 5 US girls and 18% of US boys are involve in sexting.

So what is sexting actually then?

Its quite simple actually, it only involves sending picture of yourself through your phone or over the internet. Like the 1000+ camwhore photos you regularly post to sites like Friendster, Facebook or Myspace. The only catch is you must not have any clothes on which basically means sending nude photos of yourself.

Think as i might, i still could not imagine myself photographing my asset and then forwarding it to all my friends and see.
I definitely do not want to be walking into a job interview 5 years from now with my asset picture getting the hit every time someone googles my name.

But of course, most teens today only focuses more on the present rather than worry about the future.
Enjoy ourselves when we still have the time, right?

So who cares about sending sexy pictures of myself when the pretty girl next door agrees to do the same? Besides, everybody seems to be doing it so what harm can it bring?

Sigh, the world is just getting even more sickening by every passing day.

No More Work! Yay!

*****

Last day at work!

Wow, I really cannot believe that I had been working for the past 6 months now while waiting for the dang university results and sad to say I’m beginning to like what I do at work though the pay sucks, I must say.

Well, at least now I know what I enjoy doing now.

Dead things like computers, numbers and physics equations are definitely out of my ambition list, that’s for sure.

If I were to face the same thing like accounts over and over again everyday, I could die of boredom.

Maybe this is why I chose Psychology as my course to study in NUS, like the doctor say, difference between Psychology and Computer Science is you’ll work with living beings for the former while you have to face computers again and again forever for the latter.

Besides, I am already geeky enough and I definitely do want to become anymore like a geek and who knows, maybe I’ll meet a pretty girl as a Psychologist? *Evil Laugh*

So I guess this is the end of my tenure as a telemarketer + salesman + WiMAX promoter + flyers designer + driver + the-handsome-guy-in-the-office for 6 months.

Well, if you’re wondering why I am doing so many jobs at once, well, like I used to say,

“What to do, handsome-mah”.

Cheers!

Not forgetting my work as a flier boy.. and that was a Sunday.. sigh

I decorated this place! (And i blew the balloons too, phew!)
