As seen from the The Strait Times, 19th February 2011. A message against suicide by Chu Teh-yung, a Taiwanese cartoonist, published in Shin Chew Daily |
Translation:-
As I took the jump from the 11th floor...
I see the loving couple on the 10th floor fighting with each other...
I see Peter on the 9th floor, usually strong and tough, weeping in secret...
I see Miss Y finding her fiance in bed with her good friend on the 8th floor...
Dan Dan on the 7th floor is taking anti-depressants...
While Ah Xin, unemployed, going through seven papers a day to look for a job on the 6th floor...
I see revered teacher Wang on the 5th floor wearing his wife's undergarments...
Rose going through another breakup on the 4th floor...
And Uncle Y on the 3rd floor is yearning for visitors daily...
While Lily on the 2nd floor is looking at a picture of her husband who vanished soon after their marriage...
Before I jumped, I thought I was the unluckiest person in the world....
But now I realize that everyone has their own problems too which others do not know about...
After seeing deep, I found out that I was actually doing okay...
And all the people I saw are now looking at me...
Perhaps after seeing me, they will think that they are doing okay after all.

No matter how big a problem might seem to you at the moment, perhaps it feels like the end of the world, always try to take a step back and look at the big picture. Look at other things in your life that is worth living for besides your problem, be it a boyfriend/girlfriend, studies or work. For all you know, your problem might be just a temporary setback or it could just be a small part of your life.
Taking your own life is not a solution. It's running away. It's giving up. And it's never the right way to do it.
Like I said, always try to take a step back and focus your attention on other things in life. Look at life as a whole, the big picture rather than diverting all your energy and attention to just a tiny setback. Then you will realize that perhaps life may not be that gloomy after all.
This post is dedicated to a friend of mine who is recently going through a very tough phase in life. I hope that after reading this, you will be at least feel better. Don't give up on life :)

I agreed with LUKE. Everyone have problem and difficult time to go thru, so do I. Who in this world dare to say that they do not have any problem or face any difficulty in life? I believe the answer will be none. Look at misfortune person and people that had critical illness, they are fighting their life to live. Why they can fight to solve their problem/difficulty, why not you? Think about it…
